01:03:13
WHat questions do you all have for Shara? Who else uses a conversation-based adoption process?
Lauren Guerrera
01:04:12
We use one here at Lollypop Farm in addition to our paper. It has been a wonderful change in finding homes for our horses
Sandy De Lisle
01:07:04
Janet and everyone, please make sure to select all attendees when you type in chat so that everyone can see your comment or question. Speaking of questions, make sure to ask them! We will have a Q&A at the end!
Janet L. Salisbury
01:07:31
Thanks!
Emily Weiss
01:07:50
Great you guys! Sometimes starting with conversation will make sure that there are not road blocks for good adopters (for example that adopter Shara noted that did not have proper housing - by starting with a conversation, that adopter did not stop at the paperwork -
Danielle Leftridge
01:07:55
We to use one at Next Step Horse Rescue. We believe that having an open conversation with a potential adopter is just as important as seeing it on paper.
Lauren Guerrera
01:11:13
Where can we find the Capacity care guidelines? I missed that
Sandy De Lisle
01:13:04
Lauren, we will ask Ellen to reply to this and see if we can get you a link. And Debra, we'll get to your question, too!

Our rescue has a majority of companion/retired horses, I am looking for any suggestions on how to increase changes for successful adoptions of these type of horses.
Sandy De Lisle
01:17:44
Emily, we will ask HSNT!
Christie Schulte Kappert
01:19:31
Marie, we will pose the question and here are a few webinars dedicated exactly to that: https://www.aspcapro.org/webinar/2019-02-06-120000/how-home-special-needs-and-unrideable-horses

01:25:32
Any specific recommendations for marketing horses for adoption that may be special needs, seniors, or needing to be companion horses?

Emily, we can look at sequence for the polls. We placed it so that we captured them before the audience leaves, but worth a look
Danielle Leftridge
01:27:35
Do you guys have any links or connections with groups or organizations that provide grants to 501(c)(3) rescues? Being in an extremely small town all our donations are from individuals and we have no large donors or grants.

We have been using a conversation based adoption process for a long time, it was great to learn the correct "term" to describe this approach!

Can anyone recommend any specific language they have found helpful in talking with adopters who have "chosen" a horse that you don't feel is an appropriate match for them?
