do you have recommendations for how many animals you should have per number of staff or volunteers also going?
Melissa Reince
40:06
In the past, I''ve had one or two dogs act like all-stars in the shelter, but acted totally different off the shelter grounds! What are some tips on ensuring a high success rate?
Sandy De Lisle
40:08
Thanks for the question, Alison--we'll ask Michelle at the end!
Sandy De Lisle
40:40
Melissa, we'll get your question, too! Keep those great questions coming!

Got your question, Celeste!
Shari Cahill
50:09
What is your process for adopting from off-site if dog not s/n? rely on adopter to complete, send directly to vet, other steps?
Sandy De Lisle
50:43
Shari, adding this to the Q&A!
Shari Cahill
51:07
Thank you :-)
Maddi Haak
51:20
Does anyone send dogs that are not ready yet (i.e. not s/n yet), do they get to go for exposure and accept apps for them or they cannot attend? Thoughts?
Sandy De Lisle
51:54
Maddi, thanks, I got your Q!

just to make sure I’m understanding correctly, the Animal Ambassador program is just the name for the Foster program? if not whats the difference?
Sandy De Lisle
57:11
Alison, AA is a foster program where the foster families get the animals out into the community and actually find the adopter and complete the adoption! They are talent agents for the dogs!
Sandy De Lisle
58:20
Here's more info about AA: https://www.aspcapro.org/about-campaigns/adoption-ambassadors

I love that idea of having a volunteer take a dog home for the weekend with the main goal of finding s/him a home.
Alison Sobeck
59:51
gotcha, thansk

01:00:33
Welcome!

We support rural municipal shelters where 80% of animals only survive by placement with rescue. New ideas like adoption ambassadors and off-site adoptions are basically rejected without legitimate consideration. Any suggestions for selling these ideas? Any legitimate legal concerns for these municipalities in rolling out programs like these?
Sandy De Lisle
01:06:04
Shari, thanks for the question--Michelle is with a municipal facility and can address this question at the end.
Sandy De Lisle
01:09:21
We have loads of Adoption Ambassador resources on ASPCApro and will include links in the follow-up email.
Shari Cahill
01:10:36
What creative things are y'all incorporating for #findyourfido next month?
Sandy De Lisle
01:11:06
Thanks for asking about Find Your Fido, Shari! We're going to talk about that at the very end!

Just a quick note of prayers to all of you and the shelter pets who may be in Florence's path. Be safe!
Shari Cahill
01:13:13
Nice thought, Kelli. Prayers from Ga to those in the storm's path. <3

You have 27 cats in the shelter with 1 pregnant female who is already scheduled to go to the vet for spaying on Friday. Which will also abort the kittens. Do you allow the cat to be adopted and chance having a hundred or more strays returned to the shelter over the next few years that could be off spring of this unaltered cat or send it to be spayed ?
Shari Cahill
01:19:04
yes, county facilities.
Susan Furukawa
01:22:34
that's great! provide support as needed to the Adoption Ambassadors
Melissa Reince
01:23:27
I've had a few Ambassadors who don't seem to network their dogs. We never see them at offsite events, they don't promote on social media, nor do they send pictures as requested. How do you combat this?
Susan Furukawa
01:23:42
conversation-based, so landlord and veterinarian checks are not required or needed
Shari Cahill
